At Cross Pointe Church we are happy to once again provide English Second Language classes in the Spring of 2011. If English is not your first language and you would like to improve your oral, written and comprehension skills in a safe and welcoming environment, please join us!
The following points describe just a few of the things you can expect from Cross Pointe ESL:
Variety: Rather than just addressing one area, we try to provide diverse activities to improve several skills, including communication, reading, pronunciation, spelling, grammar, writing and understanding.
Practice: We often revisit more difficult topics at later classes to help ensure understanding. Practice makes perfect!
Practical Application: One of the themes we often include in our classes is the use of English on the job: we try to help prepare students to communicate with potential employers or build upon the language related skills they already use at work. We believe this theme will be of practical use to many of our students.
Lessons are taught by Pastor Jay Holdner, who has an Undergraduate Degree in International Studies, a Masters in Divinity, and has served on the Board of the ESL Cooperative for Calgary, and Trevor Hubbard, who has a BA in English Literature.
